According to Nielsen’s NPM Fast National ratings, Univision, the US Spanish-language media company, had an average audience of 4.0 million Viewers watching its exclusive Spanish-language coverage of the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa on the Opening Day.
The opening game, between Mexico and South Africa, attracted 5.4 million viewers, 3.2 million of which were Adults 18-49.
Audiences were almost double the numbers watching the first day of the 2006 FIFA World Cup.
Univision beat English-language network ESPN by a significant margin.
